Pakistan’s dream of regaining World Junior Squash glory was shattered on Saturday after Pakistan was beaten by top seed Egypt 2-1 in the semi-final of the World Junior Team Squash Championship in France.
Noor Zaman was the only Pakistani who could win his match, he defeated Mohammed Nasser with scores of 3-11, 11-7, 3-11, and 6-11.
Noor’s win over Naseer had helped Pakistan equalize the encounter after Hamza went down 3-0 in the first match against Kareem El Torkey. Karim won the match by 11-8, 11-8, and 11-5 in just 33 minutes.
In the last game, Mohammad Ashab Irfan showed some resistance against Mohamed Zakaria but lost the game 11-6, 7-11, 13-11, and 11-8.
After defeat in Semifinal, Pakistan will now play a third-position match.
